History

Bob Brown was a successful businessman.  In the late 40's and early 50's he managed service stations in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  He was known for his excellent service and aggressive tire sales.  In 1953 he opened his own tire business in Stillwater, Bob Brown Tire Co.  His favorite pastor saw how aggressive and hard working he was and told him to "take the Lord as your partner and never look back."  Bob, with a ninth-grade education, a strong honest-hard work ethic, and very little money, did just that.  In 1960 he bought a vacant car dealership building and moved his tire business there.

In 1963 he was asked to come to northwestern Arkansas by Jack Wilkinson who asked Bob to become partners in his tire business named Tire Town on North College in Fayetteville.  He became known for his unique ideas in marketing such as his Mid-March Marathon where he would stay open for 3 days, 24 hours a day and prices were their lowest around midnight each night.  Later he bought that business and the name was changed to match the Oklahoma operation, Bob Brown Distributing Co.  Bob expanded his business to include wholesale tire distribution.  He was one of the pioneers of distributing private label tires to other retail tire dealers and service stations throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas.  He expanded this portion of his business and added warehouses in Las Vegas in 1973, Little Rock in 1979, and Wichita in 1979.  Before he was through he was selling tires almost coast to coast, and was the largest tire dealership of its type in the area.  In 1982 Bob retired from the tire business.

In 1965 he rented a Travco motor home and took his first ever RV trip.  He went to Las Vegas with his family.  This started a journey of some 10 personal coaches and hundreds of thousands of miles of enjoyment.  Bob's last pleasure trip was made in September of 1997, to Las Vegas.

Through the mid and late 80's he invested, financed, and sold large motor homes. With his love of RVing, he started Brown's RV in 1992.  He invited his son Bud to be a part of the business in 1993.  It opened in a small location and a year later expanded to its current larger location.

Our ability to undertake all aspects of landscape and external works construction makes us one of only a handful of companies who can handle these projects successfully whilst maintaining a consistently high level of control and quality.

Bob was a Christian and a member of the University Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He also was a Mason and a Shriner.

In 1965, while Bob was telling his three sons of their grandfathers untimely death, he told the boys that as sad as they were, that if they could ask Grand-dad to come back to earth and be with them again, that Grand-dad would have to say, "Heaven is such a joyous place, I just have to stay."  Heaven is where the family knows Bob is Today!

Bob passed away at his home on April 15, 1999.
